What is a 'GREEN' company?
I am an SRI investor and i must say that the companies i am funding are 'better' than many companies out there from an environmental (and social and ethical) perspective but they are hardly breaking new ground.

They are for the most part and at best well positioned for a low carbon economy and they are substantial corporate businesses. They don't reflect my personal values and opinions on commerce in general or what i believe is actually needed from business in the 21st century to create real social and environmental responsibility.

I know now as a result of my job that there are 1000's of smaller businesses (which i cannot yet invest in) that are trailblazing in the fields of environmental and social responsibility. These companies are called 'Social Businesses and Enterprises'. They marry their financial goals with social and environmental impacts, from fair trade, to organic produce, renewable energy and recycled goods.

These businesses reflect the values that are growing in our society, but when am i going to able to invest in them?
