9 cents – my personal best so far :)

Huzzah, $0.09 from Adsense in 1 day! Don’t laugh but this is a good enough start. Soon it’ll be $0.90, then $9, then $90 a day, and that’s just from 1 blog :D

John Chow annoys the hell out of me @ Twitter

Every day I make it known to the world that I am proud of the fact that I love blogging more than Twitter. Sure, microblogging is great, microblogging is wonderful, but I fail to see what’s so superior about it. The fact that the Times magazine featured Twitter on the front cover does not faze me in the least.

This is how I use Twitter:
1. Login and check the Twits
2. Then check the twits who Twit (there IS a difference, see?)
3. Laugh at Twits
4. Log off Twitter

Of course, Twitter is not all that bad. I have picked up some good Internet marketing tips off it. Sometimes I find gems from @Problogger Darren Rowse but there are people who annoy me no end with their IM spiels. I mean, won’t it be nice to Twit about amusing or mundane things once in a while? Have they nothing except ideas about “how to make money online” in their heads?

Take this dude who calls himself @EmailCopywriter for example. NOTHING remotely amusing or appealing came from him, nothing but boring quotes that didn’t come from him. By Jove, can you be more original once in a while? That’s not too much to ask for, is it?

Then there’s @JohnChow. Sure he makes big bucks blogging but his bloody grin annoys me no end. If you want to ask me what does his grin gotta do with Twitter or the fact that I am ranting about all this… DON’T. I’m on a rampage, enough said.

I feel so much better after all this bitching. :)

PS: Although I am NOT very fond of Twitter but I do appreciate the innovative apps that come out regularly. Here’s Tweetboard, thanks to Techcrunch for the heads-up.

Go green and save money doing it!

The heat wave here is just terrible these days. Blame it on El Nino! What’s worst, there have been reports saying that this condition will last until September later on this year — that’s a full 3 months plus a week to endure!

I don’t mind the heat as long as it’s not too immense but my 14-month old daughter detests it. She loves BOTH the cool breeze from a nice blustery day as well as the air conditioning in her room when she sleeps at night, but with the heat wave, we’ve had to cool down our place by turning on the A/C more often. As a result, our electricity bills are on the rise and there is no sign of it being reduced anytime soon.

So as I was rocking the little milk monster to sleep, I thought: how can I save money and reduce my carbon footprints at the same time? I Googled about lowering the A/C bills and found out that you should ideally keep the temperature as high as you can, maybe 20 or 21, not at 16 degrees like we usually do, and use a fan to circulate the air. It worked! It somewhat reduced the following month’s bill.

I’m going to try build my DIY organic garden soon! There’s a Green Living Kit I have just discovered so I’ll be posting little nuggets of tips on how to go green and save money at the same time.

New fuel efficiency site you should definitely check out

You know, I’m not one who goes around posting on forums because honestly I just don’t have the time or luxury to do that. Sure, I may be an active forum member in several forums but that’s just ’cause I love the community and I don’t mind contributing.

Recently I discovered a new place to hang out at FuelEfficiency.org. The site looks very delightful, very no-frills and not overly ambitious. Most importantly, I foresee this site to be a good source of information once more people see how useful it can be. Check out the forums for some insightful posts, certainly not your run-of-the-mill forum with “make money online” as its mantra. ;)

3 Best Green Cars for 2009

Ah, green cars. So many want one, and yet are always intrigued by it. The reason why I would love to drive one is that doing so gives me the impression that I will save on fuel and in the long run, reduce my carbon footprint. Here are only 3 of the many green cars that will be making a debut in the year 2009. Which is your favorite? ;)

1. Ford Fusion Hybrid

This will be Ford’s first green sedan creation  foray and I can tell this car will be a good one. Itt allows electric driving as high as 47 mph, and translated that means optimal fuel efficiency for this deliciously sleek five-seater.

2. VW Jetta TDI

Is there such thing as “clean” diesel? Apparently yes, with Volkswagen’s latest green technology. This green car is a must-have for every VW fan who wants to reduce their carbon footprint on Earth.

3. SMART ForTWo

Ah, my favorite green car at last! Although tiny the ForTwo sure packs a punch with its high fuel efficiency and customizble car exterior.
