There is a certain satisfaction in committing to a green way of life. Doing your part to reduce your personal carbon footprint for a healthier environment, and helping to preserve our planet for future generations are satisfying, indeed. But have you taken a good look at how committed you really are to this goals with your green lifestyle? Are you all in, or just sticking your toe in the water? Did you sell out or are you selling yourself short? Is your passion for living green a deep and full forest green or are you really faux green? I think we all need to take a good hard look in the mirror to see if we are really committed to this or if it’s just a nice conversation to have while donating an hour at the local soup kitchen. Really now, water conservation is fine, and so is owning a hybrid vehicle, but is there really something more you can do to show your passion in this effort to eliminate carbon emissions? Yes, yes there is more you can do. Here is the dirty little secret, it’s called generating electricity at home. Isn’t that really putting your money where your mouth is? Deciding to be your own power company by making clean and green electricity at home shows that you really are serious about living an all out green lifestyle and you are not just all talk. Did you know that probably the easiest, safest, and cleanest way to do this is by making your own magnetic power generator for home use? That’s right, you can do this quite easily with simple do it yourself plans. The project will take about an afternoon and you can find the materials and parts needed at your local hardware store. Magnetic power generators really are the little known secret that could change our planet. Don’t you think it’s time you start committing to a green lifestyle by making your own free and clean electricity at home? I know you are, because I know you are going to sell all out to this cause. Now you can generate free electricity with a simple and easy to use guide for making a magnetic power generator at home.

A key factor to successful interior design style is the reflection of the occupants personalities and life styles. Once this has been achieved people will be able to relax and enjoy their living spaces to the full. The budget should also be given very careful consideration; most of us would love to live in homes which are filled with bespoke furniture and fixings, in reality there are not many who can afford to do so!However, all is not lost–it is possible to recreate and emulate many interior styles on a more affordable budget. One of the key factors here is to plan each room carefully. Make a sample board in order for you to focus on styles, textures and colours which compliment or coordinate with each other. Sample boards are easy to put together:Make a different board for each room. Browse through interior design articles and cut out pictures of all the things which appeal-irrespective of the cost. Request fabric samples from retailers and add these to your collection of images. Ask for flooring samples; either for blinds or carpets. Gather paint colour charts and select two or three base colour cards. The type which has a main colour in a variety of different tones are best. Once you have a collection of samples and images concentrate on separating them into the different rooms of your home. Many people prefer to only select pictures and samples for one room at a time; I find this difficult, because it’s almost guaranteed that if I’m looking for bedroom images I will come across ‘just the thing’ I was looking for to suit the lounge or dining room! I choose to randomly cut pictures and gather samples as and when I see them otherwise I can rarely find them again. Lay the images and samples out on a board, a stiff piece of card will do-make sure it’s a neutral colour background so as not to detract from the colours of the samples and images. Try and keep things in order, for example place the flooring samples at the bottom of the board, lighting and lampshades at the top. Once you have a rough plan laid out walk away-make coffee or leave the room for a while. When you return to the board you will probably find you re-shuffle things about, remove or add pictures or samples. This is all part of the fun with sample boards, experimentation, changing, being inspired before you spend any money!Once you are happy with the colours, textures and overall layout take a long hard look at each of the items; if your budget does not allow for all brand new or bespoke items remain positive and set out to track down and locate similar pieces which are available from the high street retailers or gone online-there are some great bargains to be found by shopping online. In fact many things you find online are not available in the high street, making your choice more unique!Online retailers have some great deals on their range of fabrics, curtains and bedding. Be inspired by patterns such as ‘Rene Mackintosh’ designs. Use colours which tone well on the walls and select a couple of accent colours from the fabric to use for accessories such as rugs and throws, in this example the russet colour would look great as an accent colour.

Awaken your mind and your living space with intensive spring cleaning! It’s that time of year again when the dull overcast days, drizzle, fog and persistent rain can make you feel lethargic and fed up. Brighten your life and your home by spring cleaning! It will work wonders for your morale, your living space will be refreshed-all-in-all spring clean is a great way to banish the winter blues!Take a positive approach and work in a methodical manner, otherwise you’ll become overwhelmed and simply give up. Chose the lounge to begin with as this is the place you will be able to relax in at the end of the day and soak up the new ambience of the room. De-clutter the room before you start cleaning. Gather up all old newspapers, books, clothes, shoes-whatever it is on your surfaces, sofas and chairs. Toss all unwanted paper into the recycling, take clothes and shoes and deposit them in their owners rooms! Once you have cleared away start cleaning! It’s always best to start from the top and work down. Remember this is not re-decorating this is spring cleaning! Use a soft broom or one of those feather type dusters on a stick to sweep down cob webs from the ceiling and corners. Don’t forget to clean or dust light shades-spiders love making webs around these! If you have washable shades take them down and spruce them up with warm soapy water. If your lighting is old and dated, damaged or a colour which no longer blends with your colour scheme make a mental or better still a written note to search out something more appropriate. Lighting and choice of light shade can make or break a room’s interior design style. There are some fantastic lights available which will brighten a room in more ways than one!Work your way systematically round the room cleaning, dusting and polishing anything that isn’t moving!Take the curtains or blinds down and wash them-if you can. Having superb window dressing is a key factor in creating a fantastic interior design. Maybe it’s time you replaced them? Like lighting there are some fabulous ready made curtains in a wealth of colours, plains and patterns to choose from. New design colours in blinds can be a very affordable way to inject colour into a room. Natural wood blinds are ideal as they blend effortlessly with any colour combinations and design styles. Before you get side tracked looking for new window dressings clean the windows inside and out-you will amazed the difference this will make. Hover the carpet, shake out rugs, plump up the cushions, these little things will make a real difference. Place only your very favourite items for display. Shelves and mantle pieces bombarded with a disorganised mass of trinkets not only looks a shambles they attract dust, making cleaning chores even harder. Any interior design magazine or TV programme has only a few strategically placed items which add interest and focal points, you will rarely see a cluttered mess of mismatched items! The only exception to this maybe a ’shabby chic’ interior design style, but even this should have themed objects not mess. It may be hard but once you have the de-clutter bug you will be able to zip round the other rooms and de-clutter and spring clean in no time at all!

These days we hear a lot about Cosmic Ordering, The Secret, the Law of Attraction and the fact that like attracts like. If this were true then surely it would benefit all of us to learn how to live our lives a little more positively. And even if it’s not true ? what have we got to lose by becoming at least a little more positive in our daily lives? Surely our lives would be more pleasurable if we lived this way. So, with this in mind, here are a few handy ‘tips and hits’ to help you to live your life in a more upbeat and optimistic way. Wherever you can, try and spread a little happiness. A kind word, or thought or deed goes a long way. Can you think of a time when you felt good or something good happened to you because of something someone else said or did? If you want to be happy, try making someone else happy. If you want to be more abundant, share what you do have with someone else. Feeling gratitude is one of the most important things you can do to help you to live more positively. Even in the worst of circumstances, there is always something to be grateful for. I’ve found it helps to keep a ‘Gratitude’ journal. This is simply a list of things I’m grateful for. There are so many things I have to be thankful for and the very act of writing the list reminds me of them and puts me in a more positive frame of mind. If you try it, you may find it hard to think of anything at first, but as you go on and keep at it, you’ll soon find that it’s difficult to stop! Try and keep writing in it too, as you go along. See if you can’t think of five new things to add to it each day. Affirmations are a very powerful way to help you stay positive too. Use them as often as you can. Do make sure that they’re all positive, present tense and personal though, and phrase them to say what it is you do want, not what you want to be rid of. Write them down or say them to yourself over and over, in your mind or out loud until they become a part of you. And if you’re constantly on the lookout for evidence that your affirmations are working you’ll soon see a difference. Learn to relax more. A few minutes relaxation each day will help you to keep on top of things. A good way to relax yourself is to find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed, sit or lie comfortably and just focus on your breathing for a while. To stop your mind from wandering, try saying ‘I am,’ on the in breath and ‘at peace’ on the out breath. Breathing in ? ‘I am’. Breathing out ? ‘at peace’. I use this technique with my meditation groups and it really helps to stop the mind from chattering and spoiling your relaxation. You only need to do this for about ten minutes a day, and you will gain many benefits, not least that you’ll begin to look forward to it, and you’ll feel more in control of yourself and your life. Watch your words! It’s surprising how many negative statements we can make in a day. And the things we say can soon become reality for us if we repeat them often enough. One exercise I find helpful is to watch what you say on the phone. Sometimes, when there’s someone at the other end moaning about something, we often just tend to agree without even realising that we’re doing it. Or maybe you have a friend who’s a bit of a moaner and you just say ‘Yes, yes’ to save yourself the bother of thinking up a reply. If you catch yourself doing this, try and see if there’s another way to put things in a more positive light. Think about what you really want to achieve in life. If your life were perfect in every way, how would it be? Write a page or two describing your ideal life as if it already existed. That way at least you know what you’re aiming for and you can work towards that. Most positive people have a goal to work towards and something to look forward to once their goal has been achieved. Mental imagery can also work well to help us be more positive. Create a picture in your mind of you looking your best and living your ideal life. And make it a habit to think about it often, especially at the beginning and end of each day. Okay, so you’re maybe not living your ideal life right now, but it’s something to aspire to isn’t it?Allow yourself to spend some time each day reading uplifting books, watching uplifting films or plays. They don’t necessarily have to be ‘motivational’ ones. Just ones that you enjoy and feel good reading or watching. Try not to read newspapers, which carry bad news, or watch the TV news. This will only serve to bring you down and ‘prove’ that the world is in a bad way. If something really important does happen, you’ll get to hear about it anyway. Try and make a game out of finding the positive in things. “Of course it’s raining, but never mind, the garden’s getting watered. ” Okay, so it’s a bit of a ‘Pollyanna’ attitude, but why not? It’ll make you feel better and, after all, that’s what it’s all about. And above all else, do treat yourself well. Allow yourself a little time for relaxation each day, drink lots of water and give yourself the best and freshest foods you can find. You’ll feel much healthier as a result. And allow yourself the occasional treat too. A small bar of chocolate or cream cake won’t do you any harm (unless of course, you’re allergic to them. ) Even then, there must be some little thing you can have that you will enjoy. And make time to do the things you enjoy too. You (and your work) will benefit much more from doing this. Treat yourself as if you were your own best friend. After all, you deserve it. Remember, you cannot give, unless you give to yourself first. Allow yourself to have the good things in life and then spread them around. And when people ask what you’re taking, simply tell them ‘a good dose of positivity’!

Apiary Buzz/ Bloomingdale Road: First Tastings
Bloomingdale Road
The menu is designed for the table to share,? our waiter at the new Bloomingdale Road
announces.
I look at the list of ?snacks? just above ?small plates and sandwiches? and ?soup and salads. ? ?How many smoked deviled eggs on the plate?? I ask.
?Three,? he says.
?But we?re four. ?
?You can always get two orders,? he responds.
?I don?t need six eggs. ?
?Well, they?re big and you can cut them in half. ?
?But then I?ll have six halves. How about the suckling pig meatballs??
?Three,? he says grinning. ?I could just bring you four anyway. ?
?Bring us four and charge for the extra meatball,? I instruct. ?And we?ll have four chowder shots too. ?
This is not just another lineup of comfort food. It?s playpen time. It?s the homey and weirdo hour. We have chicken lollipops-Buffalo with blue cheese fondue. Country ham is roasted with Coca-Cola. Everyday fries? Not here. Smoked fries, Old Bay fries and bone marrow fries. The tuna ribs are chili and honey glazed. Country-fried quail comes with biscuits and gravy. This unquenchable exuberance and desperate need to fry up something not yet invented might be inspired by how many restaurants are in countdown phase all over town (especially Fatty Crab and Tom Valenti?s West Branch, imminent not far away on Broadway ? which was once called Bloomingdale Road).
I wouldn?t be going into all this today if I hadn?t actually liked some of Chef Ed Witt?s dishes since, I must confess, I accidentally barged into Bloomingdale Road on its first night, thinking it had opened a week earlier. And I wasn?t the only trigger happy Upper West Sider piling in the door as if starved. The duplex, bar and sidewalk tables are jammed with yuppies and yippies, seniors and younglings in startling juxtaposition.
If I?d hated every bite I would have left the place to expire of terminal silliness and possibly come back eventually if it rallied, just to be fair. But the fabulous chowder shooters (not exactly drinkable in their shot glass ? we had to ask for spoons), the sensational smoked fries with not-too-much cheddar and the Road Food Warrior?s whole wheat fettuccine with spicy shrimp, grilled squash and marjoram actually live up to Witt?s resume ? Rubicon in San Francisco, Restaurant Daniel, Il Buco and the ambitious but doomed Varietal.
We?re all wild about the brioche baked in a tin can ? ?Watch out,? says the waiter, leaving a small ramekin of herb-black-pepper-honey doused butter. ?That?s really hot. ? Yoicks! I discover he?s not kidding as I try to pull the puffed-up top free from its baking tin, a lawsuit in a can in this litigious town. ?Want more bread?? the runner asks. Even devout carbophobes want more. A second pouf comes in a burning hot ramekin (easier to extract without injury). ?I?ll leave this used butter because we?re running short,? says the runner, the same guy who assures us the chowder shots are ?chicken. ? On the first night it?s almost amusing. (Even Sarah was amusing for 24 hours. ) And the ancho-dusted scallops with corn and wild mushrooms are small but good (at least our fussy friend is impressed and her husband attacks the trout on chunks of potato slathered with horseradish cream with unabashed gusto).
The teeny suckling pig meatballs are lost in a smother of chipotle tomato sauce and not worth saving anyway. Mac and cheese Witt style is witless ? macaroni cheese soup. It comes with a tripartite dish alongside sporting the crunchiest croutons I?ve ever tasted, bits of bacon and minced jalapeno. ?You can run your macaroni over the condiments,? we are instructed. No. No. No. Impossible. (But save the croutons. They?re marvelous. ) I?m not sure if it was something my grass-fed cow ate but the barely chewable strip steak smells and tastes spoiled. Still, those fries. The kitchen has them mastered. Well, I hope. Who knows what day 2 will bring?
More crowds, says Proprietor Jeremy Wladis, who knows the neighborhood?s consuming fervor from his two other ventures, Nonna (Columbus and 85th) and Campo (Broadway at 112th Street). But even he is reeling with the demand, walk-ins and reservations, ?We fed 200 last night. We?re completely booked for the weekend. ” And yes, the menu is still evolving. “We?ve been tasting the food for two months,? he confides, ?but it?s one thing to do cedar roasted sockeye salmon for five tasters and another when every table is jammed. Some of our dishes are controversial. One table hates it. The next table loves it. You don?t know what to do. ?
At six o?clock on the house?s fourth night Wladis just got handed the sixth version of the menu. I hope they?ll realize how mean it is to the middle-aged among us to have type that small and palest gray. ?Order whatever you want me to eat,? our friend Harvey pleaded. ?I can?t read the menu. ? My guy passed him the flashlight.
Syrupy sweet apricot and bourbon glaze on brioche does not mean ?bread pudding? in my book. And I probably should not have ordered peanut butter and jelly tart with marshmallow ice cream, although, like Elvis, I was once addicted to peanut butter and bacon with banana. I guess I?ve tossed that monkey off my back. This is my neighborhood after all. We?ll be back.
2398 Broadway near 88th Street 212 674 7400
Apiary:
Like a privileged first child in an ambitious family with excellent connections, Apiary has a top of the line nursery ? slick modern design by partner Ligne Rosset, starring whimsical trompe l?oeil sconces and the company?s own sleekly squared side chairs upholstered in deep jewel colors ? garnet, amethyst, graphite, cat?s eye, or shall I say, beet, eggplant, braised veal and chocolate. Managing partner Jenny Moon left Korea at 15 for this destiny ? an American education, a degree in finance from Cornell?s hotel and restaurant school, then risk arbitrage on Wall Street, and finally, following her real passion to Restaurant Daniel?s skybox as Boulud?s executive assistant, finally, a stop at Eighty One, even while hatching Apiary.
With Moon as managing partner, Neil Manacle, Bobby Flay?s sidekick of sixteen years, at the stove and Cellar consultant Nick Mautone lining up the bottles (heavy duty alternative action in New York state labels and micro brews), Apiary brings remarkably good bones to the creeping gentrification of Third Avenue below 10th Street.
Should you be a local newbie freeholder just strolling by, the illuminated metal twists in the front window – a designer light fixture suggesting radioactive tulips ? would surely stop you. But tonight, on my first tasting with friends, I see fork-tongued foodie first nighters ganged up at the bare black tables have left few spots free for curious walkins. Chatter gets magnified under the low ceiling. It will be noisy when the nomadic screamers move in but tonight, we can lean in and hear at least half of what we’re saying.
Lining up slices of sensational heirloom tomatoes on a thick toasted crostini with feta and arugula doesn?t make for easy bites of crostini but all the parts are delicious, as is the saltiness of Serrano ham played against the sweetness of fresh roasted peaches with shaved goat cheese in a mustardy sherry vinaigrette. But calamari are lost in too thick breading. Summer slaw piled on crab cake distracts from the simplicity of perfect crab. Agreed, the cake looks good, like Sarah the Warrior, with its cabbagey updo. Steamed mussels with sausage in a citrus broth is classic. And there is an elegant purity in giant prawns and sea scallops with cannelloni beans in a tangy shellfish broth. I?m discounting the failure to send out sauce spoons to a serving crew still in boot camp. While we wait for silverware I can scoop up a bit of these citric pools with mussel shells.
I can?t say that quite juicy smoked paprika dusted pork tenderloin or the chimichurri marinated hanger steak are flawed. It?s just that we had sensationally feisty hanger steak the night before at Morandi and the memory makes this version seem quite ordinary. Of course, I?m not surprised that a chef come of age in Flay?s aura overdoes on sweetness. And after all, this is Apiary. Personally, I hate honey as well as fruit vinegars in my vinaigrette. And I?m not going to be happy with sweet?n?sour fruit sauce tainting my spice crusted lamb. A side of spicy eggplant comes cold. That?s a surprise.
Blueberry compote turns out to be sticky purple streaks alongside goat cheesecake with lavender honey (yes, I hate lavender too). But the chocolate cashew tart with cashew ice cream is a hit and the vanilla ice cream on the peach crisp is just perfect. Not sweet at all.
Now how did that happen?
Though I?m betting East Villagers will be thrown by prices that would seem blissful in midtown, I?m not going to judge a chef with these credentials on just one dinner. It?s never easy to leave home and a protected adolesence. I want to believe that the man who Flay thinks is good enough to run his kitchens will grow into his own.

You don’t have to be an environmental guru to save the earth. Here are some very easy things you can do right now to help save the earth:
Save Water. Water is a precious resource that we all waste every day. Conserve water easily by:
-Put a brick in a plastic bag and place it in the back of you toilet. You’ll save up to one gallon of water with every flush.
-Fix leaky faucets and pipes right away. In the meantime, save the drips in a pan and use it to water your plants, wash the dog or even cook supper. After all, it’s clean water.
-Only wash full loads of laundry.
-Install low-flow faucet aerators on all your faucets. They’ll save you 50% (or 3-5 gallons of water a minute), and the flow will seem stronger.
-Collect rainwater in barrels or tubs and use it to water your household plants or dry lawn areas. It’ll use a lot less water than the sprinkler.
Conserve Electricity. Cut down on wasteful electrical use by:
-Turn off lights and appliances when leaving a room.
-Turn off your computer monitor before bed. A monitor left on all night uses enough electricity to print 5,300 copies.
-Look for the Energy Star rating when buying new appliances.
-Wrap your water heater set your water heater at 130 degrees.
-Wash clothes in cold water as whenever possible.
-If possible hang clothes outside to dry once in awhile.
-Turn down your heat by 1 degree for every hour you’ll be away from home.
-Replace traditional light bulbs with newer longer lasting/low energy ones.
-Don’t stand with the refrigerator or freezer open while you decide what you want.
-Unplug unused appliances.
Go Green. Going green doesn’t have to change you’re life. There are things you can do right now to live in a more earth-friendly fashion:
-Plant a tree. It’s a great way to save the earth’s oxygen.
-Use homemade or all-natural cleaning products.
-Buy recycled products.
-Use both sides of a sheet of paper before discarding.
-Reuse envelopes and junk mail for writing notes and keeping lists.
Ditch the Disposables. It takes more than 100 years for a plastic sandwich bag to biodegrade in a landfill. Pack sandwiches and snacks in reusable containers, or rinse and reuse the disposable ones. Using permanent containers will not only save the environment, it’ll save you time and money.
Here are a few other things to try:
-Replace plastic utensils, paper plates and Styrofoam cups with permanent ones.
Recycle mayonnaise jars, margarine tubs and other food containers to store leftovers and other supplies.
-Use washable cloth kitchen towels instead paper towels.
Use Rechargeable Batteries.
They may cost a little more, but replacing your disposable batteries with rechargeable ones will save you 10 to 20 times their original cost in the long run. Want to prolong the life of your batteries? Use a plug or adapter for radios and other small appliances.

There are many ways we can help curb global warming. It’s really as simple as the choices we make and the products we buy. When we burn coal, oil, and natural gas we put carbon dioxide into the air. This in turn causes global warming. So, by using modern technology and reducing the use of fossil fuels we can help curb global warming and start saving our planet!

One very easy way is to replace our regular incandescent light bulbs with very neat compact fluorescent bulbs. These compact fluorescent light bulbs use about a quarter of the electricity as normal bulbs and last ten times as long. While producing the same amount of light as well. So every new fluorescent bulb we can use helps clean the air and also helps us save money!

Another great way is by just planting a tree. Since trees take in carbon dioxide, any little tree you can plant in your backyard helps. Not only will it give you some great needed shade, but it ofcourse absorbs CO2(carbon dioxide). So it saves on bills and helps save the planet!

Finally, one of the easiest and most productive things we can do is recycle and use recycled products. Making new products from recycled materials is fantastic and can help save up to 70 – 90 percent of the energy and pollution that would result from a product made with new materials. Arenaturals. com is a great place to shop for recycled products and many other eco-friendly gifts. So, in concluding, if we all just start recycling and using recycled products we will be on a great path to helping curb global warming and saving Mother Earth!

The internet has become the most important invention of the modern era! You would think it?s the automobile, television, ultrasound or even the space shuttle. No, it?s the internet! More people surf the internet in more countries then actually own automobiles. It used to be that the popular discussion was how may televisions the average family owned but now its how many computers. It?s no wonder that a large portion of the job sector has gone to the internet over the last fifteen years and it?s no wonder that every person on the planet has secrete dreams of becoming the next big thing on the internet. Countless people have been able to develop loyal fan followings on social networking sites like you tube like a certain obsessed Brittany Spears fan! He was able to obtain is several minutes of fame and even secured a reality series on cable television. The new lead singer of Journey was observed by the band on MySpace and was immediately thrust into the spotlight as the group?s new lead singer. In the era of unedited news that gets delivered at record setting pace it?s no wonder that everywhere you look you?ll find someone willing to step into the shining light of fame. So you want to be that person? MySpace is played out and you don?t feel like learning ?The flight of the wounded bumble bee? on guitar to show the Youtube world that you are the next Nuno Bettencourt? Instead of going the route of ?over played police chase? save yourself a few years of prison time and figure out how to maximize live event video streaming. This is the wave of the future. As ?reality? gets put back into the hands of real people and artists take control of their creative outlets from the historically narrow-minded and greedy promoters you?re going to find that live event video streaming will become the must have medium on the internet. Rock bands have already begun to use closed circuit broadcasting to share their live concerts to people around the world and the NFL has successfully broadcasted their games via live stream to theaters in several cities. The wave of the future is already here and it?s time for you to figure out how to use it to find your place in internet history! It won?t be long before you turn on your computer and see banner ads for live concerts, television and historical events that will be broadcast in high definition right to your computer. It?s up to you to find the creative source to make your mark. Once it becomes the must have item there is little chance you?ll be able to ride the wave to the bank and then you?ll be left looking for the next big thing.

This first concert festival to really popularize the live streaming of full live sets was the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Ca. This annual April concert event features dozens of bands and while the live streaming started with just a few smaller bands being featured the festival has recently started to webcast full sets by headliners like Morrissey, The Killers and The Cure. Because the economy has caused many people to skip the $200-plus festival, the webcasting is a great way for fans to see their favorite bands without spending any of their much needed cash. One of the coolest festivals to recently embrace the trend of live event video streaming is the Chicago based Pitchfork Festival. This recent 2009 festival introduced full live coverage through their new Pitchfork. tv feature. Unlike in previous years, the video was clean and crisp and didn?t suffer from any loading problems before or during the streaming. The Flaming Lips, The National and more were not only featured live during the performance but is archived for viewing after festival. The Bonnaroo Festival, which takes place on a typically rainy weekend in June on a piece of Tennessee farmland, features a large list of a-list artists. Typically leaning towards ?jam-bands? as well as the newest alternative talent, Bonnaroo was one of the first festivals to fully embrace live event video streaming. While big bands were at first fairly gun-shy about allowing festivals to broadcast their sets free over the web, this year?s web stream featured such huge artists as Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band as well as a reunited Phish webcasting their performances. Furthermore, Bonnaroo was the first festival to sign a contract to broadcast a few select performances to music television station FUSE for a broadcast later in the month. Lollapalooza, the grand daddy of summer touring festivals and now a yearly occurrence in Chicago, featured brand new live streaming technology during this year?s festival which led to some of the clearest, fasting streaming ever for an event of its type. The festival also pulled out the big guns showcasing several of their headlining on their webcast. It will be interesting to see where this ever improving technology will go for future live festivals. With more festivals embracing live webcasting (festivals are doing record business even with the free webcasting) fans are now getting opportunities to see their favorite bands from the comfort of their own computer anywhere in the world.
